Just as the body becomes thirsty when you are not drinking the proper amounts of water, your soul also becomes thirsty when you are not connecting with your Maker. You are not meant to run on empty. GOD wants to spend time with you. He wants to be the center of your everything. In a busy world, it is all too easy to try and pencil Him in around all of the other things. However, when you start your day, end your day and fill your day with Him you truly will thirst no more. He will guide you to all that you need.
